As the EU has grown, it has faced obstacles, such as the addition of Central and Eastern European countries and BREXT, the first and only withdrawal of a nation from the Union. The Mississippi River
The mighty Mississippi River is the third largest watershed in the world, starting at Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota and winding some 2,340 miles before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico not far from New Orleans. Historically home to over a dozen Native American tribes who lived near its banks, the Mississippi river has been both a vital transportation artery and a fertile agricultural region throughout the entire history of North America, up to and including the United States.

Muhammad Ali
Born Cassius Clay, the professional boxer known as Muhammad Ali was widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and controversial sports figures of the 20th century. Known for his outspoken approach, Ali fought for Civil Rights in both words and actions. He was an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War and was banned from boxing for over three years for refusing to be inducted after being drafted. Despite losing these years in the prime of his career, Ali’s accomplishments in the ring remain unmatched. Join Active Minds as we review the life and legacy of the man often referred to simply as “The Greatest.”

Join us as we trace the history of coffee from its origins in Ethiopia to the Starbucks around the corner. It is a fascinating story of politics, power, chance and intrigue. Turbulent Waters: Conflict in the South China Sea
The South China Sea is an incredibly strategic body of water located between China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. At stake is one of the busiest trade routes in the world as well as oil and fishing rights. Recently China has been pressing its claim to long disputed parts of the South China Sea, raising concerns as to what may happen as tensions rise. Join Active Minds for a closer look at this delicate situation.

Football
The most popular sport in America, football is both entertainment and big business. Join Active Minds as we trace the history of the game from its 19th Century origins as a modified version of British Rugby to the Super Bowl era, telling a few of the great stories of the game along the way. We’ll also cover some of the sport’s current challenges and opportunities, including concerns over player safety and the emerging role of legalized gambling on the sport.

Join us as we flip the switch on our holiday lights at the 29th Ave Town Center on Friday, November 22nd. There will be live performances from the Denver Dolls & more, vendors selling goodies and a Winter Welcome bar selling hot chocolate and adult beverages!
The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00pm!
Additionally, there will also be Girl Scouts selling s’mores, MCA partners giving away special treats and pictures with Santa beginning at 5:00pm.
*We will close 29th Avenue from Quebec to Roslyn Street at 8:00am to set up for the event.

Come to The Cube with canned food for our food drive! On Monday November 11th we will be accepting your canned food donations in exchange for Beer Fest swag! The more cans you bring the more swag you can get.

Salem Witches
In 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts an extraordinary series of events coupled with the hysterical reaction of the community, resulted in what is referred to as the Salem Witch Hunt. Hundreds of individuals were tried for the crime of witchcraft and many were executed as a result. Join Active Minds as we seek to understand this astounding moment in our country's early history.

Final Farmers Market & Pumpkin Patch
Sunday, October 13th | 8:30am-12:30pm
Shoppers will receive a coupon for every $10 they spend at the vendors' booths. Coupons can be redeemed at the pumpkin patch for a free pumpkin. There will be a variety of pumpkin sizes ranging from small to large. Pumpkin quantities are very limited and coupons are only valid while supplies last.
Coupon details:
1 Ticket = 1 small pumpkin
3 Tickets = 1 medium pumpkin
5 Tickets = 1 large pumpkin
Pumpkins will be separated by sizes and located on the stage on the east side of The Green. Pumpkins are very limited and are not guaranteed. This market will be the final Farmers Market of the season.

Join us at The Cube for an engaging screening of the 2023 film Origin, hosted by the esteemed Vincent Piturro. Origin explores the hidden structures of social inequality through the lens of interconnected human stories. Inspired by Isabel Wilkerson's book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, the film weaves together personal narratives and historical events to shed light on the invisible hierarchy that shapes our society. It’s a powerful reflection on the forces that impact us all, offering a deeper understanding of resilience, identity, and the human spirit. We encourage to stay for a thoughtful discussion following the screening.
After the screening, attendees are invited to join a post-film discussion moderated by multiple award-winning journalist Chandra Thomas Whitfield, co-host of Colorado Matters, the daily public affairs show on Colorado Public Radio.
With over two decades of journalism experience, Whitfield has dedicated her career to addressing critical social issues and amplifying underrepresented voices. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Essence, The Huffington Post, and NBC News.
Presented in partnership with The College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at MSU Denver.

For those who live in areas subject to fire, few things can be more frightening than a wildfire. Join Active Minds as we address the issue of wildfires from a variety of perspectives. We will look at the pros and cons of fire prevention and suppression, how fires are fought, and the effects of climate change on fire frequency and intensity. We’ll also look at the role of fire in nature and how areas have recovered from devastating burns.
