Harriet Tubman
Born a slave in Maryland around 1820, Harriet Tubman escaped to freedom in 1849 and became the most famous “conductor” of the Underground Railroad that led slaves to freedom through a complex system of secret people and places. Nicknamed “Moses” for her efforts, she made over 19 trips and helped free hundreds. The Annual Egg Scramble will begin at 10:00am with the first scramble starting at 10:15am.

The first scramble is for children ages 6 and older ( parents are not allowed in the scramble area for this age group). The second scramble will begin at 10:30 and is for the age group 0-5 (parents are allowed in the scramble area). 

Make sure to bring your own basket to collect eggs!

There will also be photo opportunities with the Easter bunny, activities and sponsor giveaways.

At over 836,000 square miles (25% larger than Alaska), Greenland is a massive land located in the North Atlantic.  Its small population (just about 50,000) rule themselves as an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark.  Greenland, however, has come to the world’s attention since President Trump has expressed his desire to acquire the territory, saying “We need Greenland for national security purposes.”  Join Active Minds as we discuss the history of this remote but strategically placed part of the global story.

Muhammad Ali

Born Cassius Clay, the professional boxer known as Muhammad Ali was widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and controversial sports figures of the 20th century. Known for his outspoken approach, Ali fought for Civil Rights in both words and actions. He was an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War and was banned from boxing for over three years for refusing to be inducted after being drafted. Despite losing these years in the prime of his career, Ali’s accomplishments in the ring remain unmatched. Join Active Minds as we review the life and legacy of the man often referred to simply as “The Greatest.”

Join us as we flip the switch on our holiday lights at the 29th Ave Town Center on Friday, November 22nd. There will be live performances from the Denver Dolls & more, vendors selling goodies and a Winter Welcome bar selling hot chocolate and adult beverages!

The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00pm!

Additionally, there will also be Girl Scouts selling s’mores, MCA partners giving away special treats and pictures with Santa beginning at 5:00pm.

*We will close 29th Avenue from Quebec to Roslyn Street at 8:00am to set up for the event.

Final Farmers Market & Pumpkin Patch

Sunday, October 13th | 8:30am-12:30pm

Shoppers will receive a coupon for every $10 they spend at the vendors' booths. Coupons can be redeemed at the pumpkin patch for a free pumpkin. There will be a variety of pumpkin sizes ranging from small to large. Pumpkin quantities are very limited and coupons are only valid while supplies last. 

Coupon details: 

  • 1 Ticket = 1 small pumpkin

  • 3 Tickets = 1 medium pumpkin

  • 5 Tickets = 1 large pumpkin

Pumpkins will be separated by sizes and located on the stage on the east side of The Green. Pumpkins are very limited and are not guaranteed. This market will be the final Farmers Market of the season.

Inspired by Isabel Wilkerson's book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, the film weaves together personal narratives and historical events to shed light on the invisible hierarchy that shapes our society. It’s a powerful reflection on the forces that impact us all, offering a deeper understanding of resilience, identity, and the human spirit. We encourage to stay for a thoughtful discussion following the screening.

After the screening, attendees are invited to join a post-film discussion moderated by multiple award-winning journalist Chandra Thomas Whitfield, co-host of Colorado Matters, the daily public affairs show on Colorado Public Radio.

With over two decades of journalism experience, Whitfield has dedicated her career to addressing critical social issues and amplifying underrepresented voices. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Essence, The Huffington Post, and NBC News.

Presented in partnership with The College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at MSU Denver.
